Btw, Hellman told me recently he was supposed to direct Fat City!
I mean, I LOVE Huston's film, which is one of the greatest movies in a decade full of masterpieces. Still the idea of Hellman directing it is intriguing.

Just stumbled upon this:

Among other things, heīs talking about a script he wrote with Peckinpah about a man pursuing another one, until finally, when he kills him, he discovers he has killed himself. Doesnīt that remind you of Hellmanīs The Shooting?

I got finally around to see Road to Nowhere.
I didn't like it at all. Pretentious, boring, artsy fartsy indy. Horrible.

Well, I must say I liked it. Sure, making a film noir based on Beckett is an idea bound to alienate (and bore) more than please. But the scene when the film breaks the 4rth wall by showing the director shooting a film crew shooting him, and the very last end credit about the relationship between fiction and reality, kept on resonating in my mind after the end of the screening.
By the way, would you happen to know if Mereghetti has written a review about it? I'd be curious to know what he had to say (apart from the "scandal" at Venice).
