CONVOY on blu-ray / worldwide
12/11/14 at 5:48am

I just heard that KINO LORBER in New York will release CONVOY on blu-ray.
I offered them my 100 min. of supplements that I produced for the UK / German blu-ray. I read they are more into 'bare bones' releases so I strongly suggest that you write to them, telling them you'd love to have these extras on the US release. Also post it in the US blu-ray.com forum...

It is getting more and more difficult to produce these extras and if we can't find buyers anyway that whole golden decade of fantastic supplements will soon vanish for good (you'll remember my words Smiley).

That might be so, but they do include extras on some of their releases so you never know.

We made it happen Smiley.

The US CONVOY will be the best (ever I suppose) worldwide:
all my (100 min.) supplements will be included as well
as an audio-commentary by Simmons / Seydor / Redman.

AND: I upscaled everything to 1:1,78 HD! So no more 4:3 / zoom-in etc.

In spite of Mike's extras being in HD and the new commentary track, it sounds like the image on US Blu-ray is not as good as the UK one:

I finally saw it.
It didn't think they would do yet another HD transfer in the US rather then licensing the one from Studiocanal.
Well it's different. Nice colors here and there. Not bad really.
But the Studiocanal is better since they restored the original negativ.
In the US I suppose they scanned an internegativ (2nd or 3rd copy
of the negative done back then to make prints for distributors).

Nice release anyway. Garner Simmons has a lot to tell
on the audio - commentary...
