I wonder who else was offered it too?

It's also weird how the English title "Breakthrough" does not really make any link with the original title "Cross of Iron" (unlike "Steiner" and "Steiner 2"). Perhaps the lack of success of "Cross of Iron" in the US meant they did not want to make much of a connection between them. I haven't actually ever seen "Breakthrough" myself.

But valuable for people interested in film making: see it back-to-back with Sam's film and learn what CAN be done as opposed to what can go wrong (or how "not-to-make-films).
